Butaquone is an hydroxynaphthoquinone, active against the schizont and piroplasm stages of Theileria spp.

INDICATIONS:
Butaquone is indicated for the treatment of East Coast fever in cattle caused by Theileria parva (parva), Theileria parva bovis, Theirleria parva lawrencei, Theileria annulata, Theileria mutans and Theileria orientalis sergenti. It is used for treatment of clinically sick animals but also for prevention during incubation in all in-contact animals before showing clinical signs.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
At a dosage of2.5mg/kg body weight or 1ml Butaquone per 20kg body weight by intramuscular injection.
In severe cases a second identical dose may be 48-72 hours after the first injection.
Normal aseptic precaution should be taken.
If more than 10ml is to be injection, the total volume should be divided over two injection sites,
one each side of the neck.
